Today, 1 in 6 families spend at least half of their income in rent or mortgage, often choosing between paying for housing or purchasing food. When you add being a single parent and medical care to the equation, you get the story of Fatoumata Kankarafou. Fatoumata is a West African immigrant that learned about Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity while taking her oldest son, Samuel, to the Marcus Autism Center for behavioral therapy. She was raising four boys in a 2 bedroom apartment.
Our nation is facing an affordable housing crisis! At Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity, we are doing our part to help low income families find opportunities, achieve stability, and improve their futures.
With your support, not only will we be able to build a home for Fatoumata and her boys, but you will be a solution in the housing crisis.
#GivingTuesday is December 3, 2019 and we’d love you to join our mission as a #dreambuilder to ensure everyone has a decent place to call home.
