SCHFH seeks an experienced Accounting Coordinator to work as part of the Finance Department. Please submit a COVER LETTER and RESUME by December 6, 2019. Interviews will take place the week of December 9 – 13, 2019. Job will start Thursday, January 2, 2020.

Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Bookkeeping & Accounts Payable

o Support the maintenance of chart of accounts and proper accounting records

o Daily bookkeeping entries including daily receipts of payments and donations, construction expenses and general operating expenses

o Process accounts payable invoices by effectively checking coding of invoices and expense reports to G/L accounts, entering invoices, printing checks and assuring on-time payment

o Reconcile accounts payable and vendor statements of accounts

o Interact with project staff and external vendors and subcontractors as appropriate

Financial Analysis and Reporting

o Preparation of monthly financial statements

o Preparation of financial documentation, as needed, for grant funders

o Preparation of reports for managers, as needed, such as cost of builds, budget performance reports, functional expense analysis, etc.

o Preparation of information for annual audit

o Maintain approved vendor list and ensure current insurance policies, licenses and affidavits are on file

o Various record keeping and monitoring activities for business accounts such as insurance, utilities, gas cards, etc.

Administrative Support

o Serve as communications hub for the affiliate: answer phones, transfer calls and record messages, general email correspondence and first response to visitors, volunteers and guests at the office

o Provide administrative to all departments: maintain company files, monitor and renew business license and other non-profit certifications

o Provide standard communication on behalf of the affiliate such as thank you letters, appeal letters, newsletter

o Prepare and maintain reports for the affiliate

Development Support

o Process gifts and send appropriate correspondence

o Support Special events (Women Build, Pinewood Gala, Party with a Purpose)

o Grant writing support and reporting

Job Conditions:

  • Position is full-time at Hours are typically 8:00-5:00, M-F with additional attendance at some affiliate functions.
  • This position is classified as non-exempt.
  • Position reports to the CEO and works closely with the Corporate Accountant and all departments.
  • This position requires some driving around Clayton, Henry, and Fayette Counties and therefore is subject to periodic DMV checks for driving records and valid driver’s license.
  • This position is subject to a drug and alcohol screening, criminal background check, sex offender screening, and credit background check.
  • The Office Administrator is expected to use discretion and independent judgment in carrying out his/her responsibilities and to represent the organization in a professional, knowledgeable, and collegial manner at all times.Other conditions and benefits are explained in the Staff Handbook.

Requirements:

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent business experience
  • 2 years minimum experience in accounting
  • Knowledge of and experience with Habitat for Humanity or construction/contracting accounting preferred

Skills

  • Knowledge of and experience with QuickBooks
  • Computer literacy with knowledge of Windows 7, Office (Word and Excel), and web-based email.
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Able to meet deadlines and pay attention to details.
  • Able to work well with all staff, independent contractors and people of all races, faiths, and backgrounds.
