Women Who Build: Transforming a Home and a Life in Peachtree City
Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity officially kicked off its 2026 Women Build season with a two-day home repair project in Peachtree City, bringing together volunteers, community leaders, and local organizations to improve the safety of a longtime Fayette County homeowner’s property.
The project supported Carrie, a woman homeowner whose front and back decks were in need of replacement. The deteriorating structures had become a safety concern, making the repairs an important step toward helping her remain secure and comfortable in her home.
Over the course of two days, Women Build volunteers demolished and rebuilt the back deck while also completing landscaping work throughout the property. Teams cleared debris and cleaned Carrie’s front and back yards, helping to create a safer and more welcoming outdoor space.
The work reflected the heart of Women Build: women coming together to use their time, talents, and collective strength to make a lasting difference for homeowners in their communities.
Fayette County Ambassadors
Our Fayette County Women Build was led by Women Build Ambassadors Tiffany Ferrell of Atlanta Gas Light, who also serves as president of the Phi Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and Mayor of Peachtree City, Mayor Kim Learnard.
These ladies worked alongside volunteers as they began demolition, landscaping, and preparation for the new deck. Both ambassadors demonstrated the collaborative leadership and commitment to service that make Women Build such a meaningful initiative.
Community Partners Who Made it Possible
The Fayette Women Build project was made possible through the generous support of City of Hope, whose sponsorship helped provide the resources needed to complete the repair.
Volunteer teams and organizations represented throughout the two-day project included Dollar General, Coweta-Fayette EMC, and the Phi Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

By the end of the project, Carrie had a newly rebuilt back deck, refreshed outdoor spaces, and greater peace of mind knowing that important safety concerns had been addressed.
The Fayette County project was the first of several Women Build events planned throughout Southern Crescent Habitat’s service area. Each project will continue to bring women together to support critical home repairs, affordable homeownership, and neighborhood revitalization.
As Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity celebrates 40 years of service, the organization remains committed to ensuring that homeowners like Carrie have safe and stable places to call home.
